Our projects

Our first Call for Proposals, published in September 2024, supported 25 organizations and 32 informal grassroots groups. SEMIA prioritized women-led initiatives based on collective action, activism, and women's empowerment, with a focus on underrepresented contexts and the promotion of structural change.
The selected projects focus on key issues such as sexual and reproductive rights, gender-based violence, economic justice, youth and education, the inclusion of marginalized communities, culture, and sport.

Purple Square

Online, Puglia

Purple Square is a vibrant community, both virtual and physical, and a movement born in the spirit of Michela Murgia. She inspires her to continue educating herself, organizing, and making her voice heard: because, as she taught her, remaining silent is no longer an option. They share a deep respect for her and a desire to continue the legacy of her words and her struggles, preserving their cultural and political legacy. She believes, like her, that "everything is political" and that intersectional feminism is a daily, collective, and radical practice. She carries this vision forward by remaining united, never stepping down from the step on which women climbed together.
